Character: Elaine Corbin
Based on: Elaine of Carbonek
Age: 18
Occupation: student, part time shop girl
Bio:
Elaine of Carbonek (not to be confused with the several other prominent Elaines in Arthurian legend) is most famous for falling in love with Lancelot, pretending to be Guinevere in order to sleep with him, and giving birth to Galahad.
Elaine Corbin grew up in Britannia, though with any luck, she plans to leave soon. She's a high school senior, and getting out of this boring little place is at the tip top of her "to do" list. But for now, she's stuck here working at the same weekend job she's had for two years. She hasn't decided what she plans to study, but she's always been a bit too much of a history nerd for her popular friends' tastes. Though between trying to appear cool, and her steadily increasing daydreams, her grades have been slipping a bit. She can only hope not too much; having to stay in Britannia might be a fate worse than death.
Personality: Elaine's a bit hyper emotional, and tends to read more into things than she properly should. She usually does mean well, at least in her own mind, and is kinder than her initial demeanor suggests. She's fiercely loyal once she's made a friend, though her trust is sometimes hard to earn.
Sample Post:
Elaine did not make eye contact with anyone on the bus. Even with her iPod in, one of them would probably ask her how her father was, or say how well she looked, or ask where she was applying this fall. So she kept the volume on high and looked out the window. Of course, there was nothing to look at; it was the same row of shops she'd seen every day for years. She could remember the day the flower shop was repainted. It was what passed for a major event.
It was probably some sort of sign that her dreams were so vivid. Her brain was probably eating itself out of lack of stimulation. Other kids went to the City on fall break. She just picked up extra hours in the knick-knack shop. Lucky, lucky Elaine. Well, if there was any justice, next year she'd be ordering sushi in the Village while they were stuck somewhere desolate. Idaho would be good. Or maybe South Dakota.
She sent a quick text to Molly. Maybe they could catch a movie tonight or something. Anything that wasn't sitting around at home after work. That or she'd just go to bed early. At least her dreams were still interesting.
